What Happens After the Wild Childhood Adventure?
Share
A conversation with Norfolk Natural Living on Slow Luxury and Natural Laundry Care
At Wildgreen, we make clothes for kids who are wild at heart, for long afternoons in the garden, beachcombing in the sunshine, and getting gloriously muddy in the woods.
But the question we often ask ourselves is: what happens after the adventure? Because organic fashion doesn’t stop at how something is made. It carries through to how we care for it.
So we recently caught up with our friends at Norfolk Natural Living (the slow-living, nature-obsessed brand behind some of the most beautiful natural laundry care we’ve ever used) to talk about why natural fibres and natural laundry go hand in hand.

Vicky from Wildgreen:
“From day one, I knew Wildgreen needed to be more than just clothes. I wanted it to reflect a whole way of living, slower, more intentional, more connected to nature. That’s why we use 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, and why our styles are designed to be worn again and again, not bought for one season and binned.”
“But the care side matters too. You can design for longevity, but if you wash it in chemical-heavy detergent or blast it at high temps, it’ll break down quicker. That’s why I genuinely love Norfolk Natural Living, it’s not just about eco labels, it’s about habits that align with our values."
Bella from Norfolk Natural Living:
“Exactly! Our whole approach is based on the idea that laundry care should be gentle, both for the clothes and for the people wearing them, especially children. A lot of conventional detergents are packed with unnecessary ingredients like optical brighteners, enzymes, or synthetic fragrance, which can be harsh on skin and damaging to natural fibres.”
“We use plant-based formulas that are biodegradable and gentle, but still get the job done, even after a full day of muddy play, berry stains and all!”
Slow Living Laundry Rituals
At Wildgreen, we believe that slowing down starts with the small things, and laundry is one of them.
Rather than seeing it as a never-ending to-do, we’ve come to love it as a quiet act of care. Sorting by colour, hanging pieces in the breeze, folding sun-warmed cotton into drawers… It’s a rhythm that reminds us to pause. And when the clothes are made with intention (soft organic fibres and hand-me-down worthy stitching) it feels even more meaningful.
Norfolk Natural Living share this same belief. Their laundry care isn’t just gentle on the planet and on skin, it’s designed to turn the ordinary into a ritual worth cherishing.
And as Bella, Founder of Norfolk Natural Living explains:
“The items we choose to wear and surround ourselves with are more than things, they tell a story of who we are and how we live.”
And we couldn’t agree more.
Because what we wear and how we care for it is never just about clothing. It’s about choosing a slower, more connected way of life, one small ritual at a time.
Everyday Staples, Made to Be Lived In
When clothes are made for play, they’re going to get dirty. And that’s exactly how it should be. Our pieces are designed for the long haul, built for berry-stained days and forest adventures, and made to be passed down again and again.
Here are our favourites for summer adventures:
Marine Organic Tee: inspired by beach days, tide pools , and salty air.
Apricot Organic Tee: warm peachy tones for sunlit, carefree days.

How can we best care for our children’s clothes?
If you’re making the choice to buy thoughtfully (opting for natural fibres, small-batch pieces, and gender-neutral designs) it makes total sense to look at how you're caring for those clothes too:
- Wash less, gently. It preserves fabric, reduces emissions, and keeps colours vibrant.
- Use a natural Laundry Detergent. Especially for sensitive skin, you’ll avoid hidden chemicals.
- Treat stains naturally with Alternative Bleach. Amazing on stubborn stains!
- Air dry when you can. The sun is a natural antibacterial (and it saves energy!).
- Make it a ritual. Slowing down laundry turns it into an act of care, not a chore.

A Shared Ethos
At Wildgreen, we believe clothing should tell a story and still look great after it’s been passed down twice.
At Norfolk Natural Living, we believe how you care for things matters just as much as how you buy them.
We might make different things, but our values align: natural, intentional, low-waste living, and embracing the beauty in the everyday.
