Finding joy in my first week postpartum as a second time mum

Life After Baby Number Two: Finding Calm in the Chaos
l've been very nervous about the transition from one to two and I know we're not truly into it yet but this week has made me feel like we can do it!
The newborn bubble feels like bliss one second and like you're in the trenches the next, but finding magic in the mundane always makes me feel lighter. In those early days postpartum, I've been grounding myself by finding joy in the small everyday moments, the ones that remind me we can do this. Here are six things that have brought lightness and calm to my first week as a mum of two.
1. Slow Mornings
Bringing a real "no rush" energy to the start of the day. Jam on toast in bed, favourite PJs and lots of cuddles.

2. One on one time with my toddler
Making a conscious effort to make sure he has moments of my undivided attention when we can play together. Playing in the autumn leaves for an hour was just what we both needed.

3. Nothing beats a newborn cuddle

4. Finding sweet little play scenes left out
It's my little boy's birthday next week and I can't wait to show him the dolls house we've got for his Maileg mice and Rugaroo kangaroos! I've sourced all the dolls house furniture off of Vinted over the last few weeks.

5. Seeing my little boy become a big brother
and want to help with things for his baby sister. Everyone tells you how special this is but watching it unfold in front of you is just unbelievable.

6. Autumn Colours
Soaking up my absolute favourite time of year. We’ve been living in our organic cotton layers, comfort matters more than ever during these slower, stay-close-to-home weeks. Most days we haven't even made it past the garden but that feels perfect.

Did you find the transition from one to two hard? It's such a big change to navigate as a family isn't it.

For many families, the transition from one to two children is less about routines and more about emotional recalibration. In early postpartum, finding joy in small, ordinary moments can help parents feel grounded while everything else feels new.
